YouPlace: Through the eyes of a local - Trip to Kuala Lumpur

I am staying in Petaling Jaya which is just 30 minutes drive away from Kuala Lumpur city center for 25 years - but I felt like there are still many places that I've never knew they were there!

You could be a tourist too even if you are a local. Unless you live in that area, you will never know every nook and cranny there - which means, you'll still need a local to know the secrets in that area!

Ohh well, here are the pictures when we decided to be a tourist in our own city!

In the morning, we had a "local" chinese breakfast - I had a small cup of hot Milo and a Glutinous Rice with Chicken (Noh Mai Gai) with lots of Kampung Koh Chili Sauce.

While Chen Bin had dried noodles with Pork Soup.

Next up, we went to KL Tower - here are the prices. For local adults it cost us RM35 to have access to the Observation Deck if you show your MyKad (Malaysian Identification Card), for foreign tourist it's double the price (RM75).
There are other attractions such as Mini Zoo, BLur Coral Aquarium, F1 Simulator and XD Theater.

Here's what the entrance look like.

Sorry for the reflection of the below photo -but you can actually book a session (minimum of 20 pax) to challenge to walk up the tower! Call +60320205444 to book!

Taking random photoes is part of the fun of being a tourist!

We came across this Taman Eko Rimba KL (KL Eco Forest Park) which is located very near to KL Tower. So we decided to park right next to it and paid RM6 for the parking fee and give it a shot!

It's absolutely sad inside the little building, nothing much.

So, we went for a stroll in the forest park instead.

This the the map of the whole area. We probably only covered less than a quarter of it.

Interestingly, there is a long hanging bridge in the forest park with beautiful view!

We could spot KL Tower clearly from here too!

Here's what the parking spot looks like:

We parked at the Pasar Seni (Central Market) which is quite expensive - but we parked there just for the convenient location.

Random wall paintings on the street!

Next, we walked over to Petaling Street (KL's Chinatown).

We had our lunch in this restaurant - Kim Lian Kee. It's a very old shop, famous for it's Hokkien Mee!

Interior of the building on the first floor (upstairs).

Behold, the famous Hokkien Mee of Petaling Street! and yes, we came solely for this plate of noodles.

There is a famous Tau Foo Fah and Soya Bean stall right in front too! The line of customers just doesn't stop!

Interestingly, at the main intersection, there is a man that did this yoga pose (for about 45 minutes without coming down) for donations for his trip around the world!

This is another very famous stall that sells a sweet and refreshing chinese herbal drink! It's located diagonally oppose the Hokkien Mee restaurant and Tau Foo Fa stall.

There is also a stall that sells super expensive Muachi - it's glutinous flour with peanuts and sugar. I think it's about RM6 per little box now. But I would say it's worth a try if you don't mind the price.

Next, I would strongly recommend this snack - it's available literally everywhere - petrol station's retail, 7 elevens, even book shops! It's the best snack that I've always loved since young and I crave for it very often!! It's usually about RM2.00 or most of the time it cost lesser than that. It is a MUST TRY Malaysian snack that I personally strongly recommend.

There's a street right next to the Central Market too! Loved the Wau (traditional Malay kites) shaped roof.
Here it is! The central market!

This is what it looks like inside - it sells handcrafts, clothes/batiks, bags, local snacks, everything!

At one corner of the building, there is this Fish Spa - it only costs RM10 for 15 minutes!

The itchy and "geli-ness"..Look at our faces! It was fun though!

We also had our favourite Durian Cheese Cake at Secret Recipe too! It the best cake I've ever tasted in my life - one that I peep into each Secret Recipe shop just to see whether there is any cake that has a plastic cover on!

We also made our way to the 3D museum (right behind the Central Market) and we're pleased to present to you our "cool" photoes!

Spiderman or stuntman?

Bicycle kicks!

Being eaten by a crocodile?

Walking up the stairways of Heaven?

An antique design lift in the same building!

Next up, we went to Soong Kee Restaurant for its famous Minced Beef Noodles.

Unfortunately, I don't take beef so I ate chicken porridge instead :/

We also went to KLCC's outdoors to snap some great photoes too! Note the full moon right next to the towers and the beautiful fountain! It's a sight to see!

However, as a local, I would say it's not a great place to hangout anymore. There were many smokers and foreign labours hanging out there.

On to our final destination - Dataran Merdeka. The lights at night was glamourous - BUT the grass field wasn't as pretty. There were patches of puddle of waters everywhere.

And the last picture of the day! <3

Hope you find some of the information and photoes useful! Thanks for reading! :)
