Nikon or Canon? - from an amateur

I've finally bought a new DSLR after being on my wishlist/to-buy list for more than 2 years!! This time I'm determined to get one as CNY was coming up, my new born niece is coming up and also my Japan trip. It's definitely the best time to buy so I won't miss those moments! After considering the specs for months, I've decided to buy a flip-screen DSLR. Originally, I thought after all, Nikon is a japanese brand so it should be better in the sense that it should be more long lasting. I was aiming to buy a D5200 where the price was within my budget. I was looking through Facebook to look for a good second-hand deal and the best deal I could get was RM1350. The location of the seller was COD Penang but I do not think it's possible to travel all the way there from KL. Also consulted most of my friends with DSLR said it was way to heavy and all of them said they would prefer a smaller camera especially for travelling purposes. However, after going through almost the whole Low Yat Plaza, I decided to stay firm on buying a DSLR and not anything else because I have regretted buying a digital camera for about RM800 some 5 years ago and it's super slow response time made me feel annoyed. After going through a few shops and one of the dealer compared the Nikon D5200 and the Canon 600D - and the colour difference is HUGE to me. Immediately, my target camera brand became Canon. In Low Yat Plaza, I feel like all the dealers are saying different things and prices for the model that I was targeting for which is Canon 600D (some said there is a 2 year warranty promotion, some said no such thing as 2 year warranty, etc).

My budget initially, was only RM1600 to RM1700, but after surveying more than 15 shops, there was a package deal from the authorised Canon shop where they sold the Canon 600D body, standard 18-55mm lens and 55-250mm lens for RM2200 (free tripod, another extra year warranty for the body, photo printer when u register the warranty online before 15th January 2015, photography guidebooks and the camera bag). The main factor that I made the decision to burst my budget was because of the zoom lens which it's normal price is RM900. Say, RM2200 - RM900 = RM1300 for the body and standard lens where the normal price that I have surveyed among so many dealers was RM1600 (a saving of RM300!). And I definitely did not regret buying it.

The whole package (RM2200) except for the printer which will be couriered to me by next week.

Another smaller DSLR camera bag for light travel that has very thick cushioning (RM93).

Also bought another lens filter (RM70) that one of the dealer recommended as an "insurance" if anything were to break your camera lens, it will break the lens filter first (as shown in the picture..haha..). It's a totally clear glass, not even a speck dirt on it!

When I came back and watched this video (the raw comparison of both DSLRs), I was delighted that I bought exactly what I was expecting and looking for the whole time. You can open two windows side by side and pause at the same scene with different cameras. You will know what I mean.

Some photoes that was taken with my new DSLR camera on the same day which was Valentine's Day as well, remember it's an "cacat-ed" amateur taking photoes..:
[cacat-ed literally means "handicapped"]

Conclusion = Canon [ hopefully it doesn't disappoint me on anything in the future, for now, thumbs up ^.^v]
